UX Designer

WhereIsMyTransport is hiring a UX Designer; to take broad conceptual ideas and turn them into something truly useful and meaningful for users. You will help other teams across the business understand what would make a user’s experience intuitive, accessible and (in some instances) enjoyable and worthy of repetition.

Role & Responsibilities

You will work alongside a team of full-stack, mobile, and front end developers, collaborating closely with a Product Manager adhering to a Lean product development process. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing and conducting user research - both formal and informal (guerilla)
  • The rapid-prototyping of potential solutions; to validate and test with users
  • Applying usability best practices - key, since many of our products and services will be designed for regions with a developing data infrastructure
  • Owning and championing the WhereIsMyTransport product design system and ensuring that it’s adhered to across the organisation
  • Helping identify, investigate, and validate problems, and ultimately craft, design, test and iterate any solutions through the Lean product development process
  • Defining and clarifying user stories with the Product Manager
  • Designing interfaces for various formats and devices
  • Being a key player throughout the entire product development process
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest relevant news in design, tech, and transport
  • Becoming an authority on experience design for transport

About you

You have:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a User Experience or Product Design role
  • Proven track record in User Research across a range of industries and markets
  • Extensive experience with Sketching, Prototyping, User Interface Design, Interaction Design, User-centered Design, Wireframing
  • Proficiency with Sketch, Invision, and other appropriate design and prototyping tools
  • Experience playing multiple roles in the usability testing process
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, and the ability to listen
  • Experience across a range of user centred, service design and delivery methodologies

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in Lean Methodologies
  • Actively mentored other Designers
  • Previous public speaking experience
